Constructing Reformer Y Classes

You will learn how to set up the reformer for superior safety and function. Construct a class including:

  • Grounding
  • Breath work
  • Warm up
  • Technique
  • Flow
  • Relaxation

Deconstructing Postures: The Reformer Y Method

This course moves beyond simple sequencing, offering a deep dive into how the reformer can deconstruct and enhance familiar yoga postures. We’ll analyse through the lens of spring resistance to unlock new levels of stretch, strength, and stability in the practice .

Heightened Stretch 

Discover how to use the reformer’s springs to intelligently guide the body into deeper, more accessible stretches. Learn how the moving carriage with spring tension can provide support to release greater sustained ROM, far beyond what the mat alone can offer. You will learn to facilitate profound openings by using resistance not as a barrier, but as an assistive tool for release.

Amplified Strength 

Re-examine postures  and discover a new dimension of strength. By working against the reformer’s springs, you’ll learn to build true, functional power. The constant, controlled tension challenges muscular endurance and teaches precise engagement through both the concentric and eccentric phases of movement, creating a powerful strength that is difficult to replicate on the mat.

Dynamic Stability 

The moving platform of the reformer introduces a unique stability challenge that will transform your understanding of core engagement. A simple Plank Pose or Side Plank becomes a dynamic conversation between your body and the machine. You’ll learn how this instability demands a higher level of proprioceptive awareness and fires up deep stabilising muscles, teaching you to create stability from a mobile and intelligent core

 

Jayne Nicholls Creator

Jayne Nicholls is a visionary in the UK fitness and wellness industry. In 2000, she created and launched Freestyle Fitness Yoga (FFY), one of the first programmes to successfully make yoga accessible and relevant within the fitness industry. Her forward-thinking approach has enabled thousands of instructors to build successful careers. With a deep understanding of the mechanics of fitness & modern yoga, Jayne’s passion lies in creating intelligent, effective, and innovative training for teachers. Reformer Y is the synthesis of her life’s work: a fresh, exciting, and powerful modality for the modern yoga teacher.

Emma Brady Tutor

Originally a dancer and dance teacher, Emma first turned to Yoga and Pilates as supplementary training and quickly fell in love. During her postgraduate diploma, she explored Yoga in depth as part of her studies and was even commended for her work on creating yoga sequences for young dancers. After the birth of her children, she followed her passion further, training in freestyle yoga with Jayne, which she has now taught for over five years. Today, she runs her own Pilates and Yoga studio, where she loves creating flows that help people step out of their minds and into their bodies.

  • Video Assessment including successful and safe set up of the reformer, example teaching of grounding and breath work, example teaching of 3 postures for strength, stretch & stability.

All learners have 3 months to submit their course work after the live course.
